The Clever Bathroom Trick to Keep Your Toilet Wand Off the Floor

When it comes to one of our most essential cleaning tools, the bathroom toilet wand can become quite unpleasant. Typically stored right next to the toilet, these cleaning wands are exposed to all the mess that comes with their use. Not only do germs jump from the bowl when the seat is left up—a common mistake made with every flush—but splatter during use can spread up to 3 feet, affecting everything nearby on the floor. The last thing you want when cleaning the toilet is to grab a dirty, grimy wand.

Many people are switching to this efficient and convenient toilet-cleaning system, but the storage issue remains for both wands and traditional brushes. Ideally, a cabinet would keep it tucked away, maintaining its cleanliness and enhancing the bathroom’s appearance. If you lack such storage, consider a clever hack to keep the wand off the floor by attaching it to the toilet tank. Using an adhesive hook and loop fastener, like VELCRO Heavy Duty Fasteners, cut a small strip to fit the wand handle. Attach one side of the strip to the toilet tank and the other to the wand’s handle. This allows your wand to hang discreetly at the back for a tidier arrangement.

Attaching your toilet wand to the tank is a simple yet effective way to keep it off the floor, but you can modify this concept to better suit your needs. Keep in mind not to attach the VELCRO to the tank’s lid, as you’ll need to move the wand to check inside the tank. Instead, secure the strip just below the lid on the main tank body.

If the tank isn’t suitable for your situation, you can apply this trick to other surfaces, like a wall, cabinet, or the side of a DIY wall-mounted toilet paper holder. Fastener adhesives can leave behind tough residue or damage paint, so place a layer of painter’s or masking tape under the fastener for easy removal.

Further extend this hack by adding a refill holder to the same surface. A piece of PVC pipe large enough to hold several refill heads can serve as a practical DIY holder, supported by a few pieces of heavy-duty VELCRO. Keeping your wand and refills off the floor ensures a tidy look and clean materials, enhancing the overall bathroom experience.
