Repurpose Toilet Paper Rolls for Charming Year-Round Home Decor

Pine tree decor doesn’t have to be reserved for winter holidays and forest cabins. Since pine trees are evergreen, let’s appreciate them year-round! Create a forest of mini-trees by crafting upcycled conifers suitable for display. Use empty toilet paper rolls by cutting and shaping them into cones. Then, top them with twine, yarn, or ribbon and place them on a wooden trunk and base.

Gather three to five toilet paper rolls, as odd numbers are most visually appealing in decorating. Grab a glue gun, scissors, and masking tape, and get jute twine or cream-colored macrame cording. If you want a different look, choose bright-colored macrame cord or eye-catching yarn. You’ll also need boxboard for the base closure, a short stick for the trunk, and a wood slice for the base.

To craft your conifers, cut open the toilet paper rolls into squares and roll them into cones. Secure with glue and tape, trim the bottom, and attach a boxboard circle and stick to the base. Decorate with cord or yarn, hiding the join between the cone and base. Use repurposed items like fabric scraps or wine corks for a more eco-friendly approach.

Create your upcycled trees using materials you already have. Substitute fabric strips or ribbon for twine, and repurpose wine corks and cardboard for trunks and bases. Stack cardboard disks to make bases more secure, and consider painting them for a different look. Your trio or more of trees will bring a touch of nature to your home any time of the year.
