Looking for an elegant yet affordable way to enhance the aesthetic appeal of your living space? A stylish decorative storage tray could be the perfect solution. You can personalize this type of accent piece with various small items, from trinkets and candlesticks to small books and potted plants. The arrangement you choose can complement your preferred interior design style or stand out to create a striking focal point. Decorative trays can also have a practical use. If used in the living room, they can help keep magazines and papers organized. Placed by the door, they can hold everyday items like keys, wallet, and sunglasses. Crafting your own storage tray may be simpler than you think.

You can create a decorative and functional storage tray using Dollar Tree Garden Collection Foam Kneeling Pads for the sides, a white foam board for the base, Dollar Tree’s Metal Drawer Pulls for handles, and white craft paint to customize. Hot glue will hold everything together, making this project an affordable and stylish way to decorate your home.

How to make a decorative storage tray with garden kneeling pads

To start, trim the ends of the shorter sides of the pads to create straight edges and remove the handles. Then, cut the pads lengthwise down the center to create four equal-sized pieces. Two pieces will be the longer sides of the tray, and one can be cut in half for the shorter sides. You won’t need the fourth piece, but it can be saved as a spare. Next, paint the four tray sides with white acrylic paint. Once painted, mark and attach the drawer pulls to the shorter sides using a glue gun or drill. Finally, use hot glue to connect the sides of the tray together.
