Kenmore vs. Dyson: Which Vacuum Brand Comes Out on Top?

When it comes to maintaining a pristine home, one question often arises: which vacuum cleaner is the best choice? You need a vacuum that remains dependable year after year, effectively handling crumbs, pet hair, and daily messes. You want a vacuum that won’t suddenly start spewing dirt back out or break down unexpectedly.

In the realm of vacuums, two brands continuously vie for the top position: Kenmore and Dyson. But which one truly excels — in the best way possible? To resolve this debate, we consulted an expert. In an exclusive interview, Onions Australia spoke with Carly Castro, owner of FreshLee Cleaning Co. As a third-generation professional cleaner, known online for her Clean With Carly social media channels, she has an in-depth understanding of vacuums.

Castro highlights the key differences between Dyson and Kenmore, outlining the benefits, drawbacks, and crucial factors to consider when selecting your next vacuum. While there are reasons you might desire a Dyson, she favors Kenmore. She stated, “In this battle of vacuums, Kenmore is the winner! They may not be the most stylish, but they are built to endure.” So, if you’re undecided between these two powerful brands, continue reading to discover why she prefers Kenmore and learn about the pros and cons of each brand.

Are Dyson vacuums worth the hype?

Let’s begin with the heavyweight contender: the sleek, modern, and costly Dyson. In terms of technology, Dyson is unrivaled, cleaning expert Carly Castro explained in an exclusive interview with Onions Australia. “There’s no denying that, which is why many people don’t hesitate to invest in the latest model,” she explained.

Castro, who has tested most Dyson models on the market, confirms their advanced technology. She admires their anti-tangle brush rolls and robust suction, as well as their lightweight design and cordless options. “Using a Dyson is always a seamless experience because they pick up everything — pet hair, crumbs, you name it,” she said. “They are pricey, but there are numerous reasons for that.”

However, she pointed out one significant drawback: the cost of repairs. Maintaining your Dyson vacuum in top condition may be expensive. “Due to their specialized parts, you can expect to spend a substantial amount every few years.” Motor replacements, she noted, are among the most common issues users face, costing up to $200 each. A battery replacement, meanwhile, can cost around $150. “Do you really want to invest hundreds in a product knowing you’ll need to do the same every few years? This is why many people hesitate to repurchase Dyson models,” she added. “And honestly, I can’t blame them.”

Why professional cleaners love Kenmore vacuums

So, what about the reliable Kenmore? Housekeeping business owner Carly Castro believes the brand deserves more recognition. In an exclusive interview with Onions Australia, she stated, “Their vacuums are known for durability, they offer a wide range of models, and most importantly, they are affordable.” As a third-generation professional cleaner, Castro says Kenmore is the preferred brand for the pros. “I know for a fact everyone in my family would choose Kenmore over the latest Dyson,” she said. “We trust that their vacuums will last, and they won’t break the bank.”

Of course, no vacuum is flawless. “Kenmore doesn’t scream sleek and stylish, so if aesthetics are important to you, it might not be the brand for you,” Castro noted. But it’s not just about looks — Kenmore vacuums can be somewhat bulky. “I wish most of their vacuums weren’t so cumbersome. At 5-foot-1, I find them challenging to maneuver. I tend to prefer lightweight vacuums,” she said. Kenmore does offer some cordless stick vacuums, but Castro mentioned they don’t always receive the best reviews.

Nonetheless, in this vacuum competition, Castro considers Kenmore to be superior to Dyson. She remarked, “Ultimately, we all want a vacuum that we can rely on to simplify our lives. It’s a bonus that you don’t have to spend a fortune to achieve that!”
