Outdated window treatments may not offer the privacy and sunlight balance you desire. By repurposing fabric napkins, you can create a unique window treatment that allows for privacy and natural light. Simply fold pleats into the napkins and attach curtain ring clips to the top edge of the fabric.
Slide the DIY half curtain onto a rod and install it in front of the bottom half of your window using self-adhesive curtain rod brackets. This will cover the bottom half for privacy while still allowing sunlight in through the top half. For complete privacy, add full-length curtain panels above the window. Opening the curtains will maintain some privacy with the half curtain underneath.

Today I learned that napkins can make great curtains in a pinch! (Pinch pleat… get it????) This may be the most effective yet *easy* DIY to exist. As you can see, I’m making progress on this guest room- so excited about some of the lighting I chose!! To create this alternative window treatment, fold pleats into your fabric napkin and secure them with curtain rings with clips. Attach multiple napkins side by side to cover the width of your window. Use an iron or needle and thread to reinforce the pleats. Slide the curtains onto a rod and choose a rod that complements the room’s decor.
Install curtain bracket holders on the sides of your window to hang the half curtain. For a complete window treatment, add full-length curtains over the half curtain. Ensure the colors and patterns complement each other for a cohesive look.
