Rules You Must Follow When Cleaning Laminate Countertops

If you chose laminate countertops for their affordability, you’ll be pleased to know that they are not only durable but also beautiful. However, there are certain rules to follow to ensure they last. Avoid using abrasive cleaners and stick to gentle dish soap, water, and a microfiber cloth for cleaning, as advised by Kathy Cohoon, Operations Manager at Two Maids. Harsh cleansers should also be avoided to prevent damage to the countertop’s finish.

Another important rule is to be gentle with your materials and cleaners. Bleach, in particular, can be damaging to laminate countertops. Instead, opt for warm water and baking soda paste for tough stains. It’s essential to clean up spills promptly to prevent stains from setting in.

Don’t get aggressive with your materials or cleansers on laminate countertops

Laminate countertops may seem waterproof at first glance, but they are not completely impervious to water. Water can seep into the edges or seams and cause peeling if left for too long. Avoid using excessive water and wipe up spills quickly to prevent damage to the countertop’s finish. Cohoon recommends being cautious with water usage, especially if the countertop has not been fully sealed.
