Spring 2025 Home Decor Trends Set to Make a Big Impact

Springtime is synonymous with renewal. After enduring a lengthy, chilly winter, there’s a refreshing feeling when the sun starts to shine, flowers bloom, and trees regain their leaves. It’s no wonder that many choose to rejuvenate their interiors during this season. Once you’ve completed your spring cleaning, if you’re eager for a decor update, we have the latest trends covered for you. In an exclusive conversation with Onions Australia, Erica Dale, interior designer and founder of Erica Dale Interior Design, shared her predictions for what will be trending in homes in 2025. Whether you enjoy biophilic design that integrates nature into your home or seeks to inject more fun into your decor, you’ll find contemporary design elements that match your preferences.

While January marks the official start of the new year, after months of creating a cozy winter retreat, spring often feels like the time to awaken from your design hibernation. “These trends stem from the mindset shift that occurs with the end of a long winter and the anticipation of a fresh start full of new opportunities with spring,” Dale explained. “While winter is about staying cozy, spring is about embracing the new season and welcoming back the people you’ve missed during your hibernation.” It’s time to put away the throw blankets, pack away any lingering holiday decorations, and rejuvenate your space for spring.

Embrace Greenery — In Multiple Ways

Sage green walls have been a staple in recent trends, so it’s no shock that they’re making a return for spring 2025. In her exclusive interview with Onions Australia, Erica Dale mentioned that other rich shades would also be gaining popularity. “These greens often appear in spring decor in softer, muted tones like sage or forest, as well as yellow-based greens like chartreuse, symbolizing a fresh start and a connection to nature.”

If you want to capture that natural vibe without altering your current color scheme, Dale suggested that natural accents could reflect the season’s brightness and infuse fresh energy into your space. “Spring introduces an abundance of warm, organic elements into our interiors that resonate with nature, such as natural wood tones and woven rattan textures,” she noted. “Our inclination toward biophilic design, bringing the outdoors in, is at its peak, which also means more houseplants!” These changes can range from major, like installing wood paneling or replacing your coffee table with a piece made from natural materials, to subtle and cost-effective, such as adding new houseplants or earthy wall art.

Add Playful Accents

As the outdoors begins to burst with color, interior trends echo this transformation. In her exclusive interview with Onions Australia, Erica Dale remarked that light, breezy shades would likely feature more prominently to refresh wintry palettes. “With spring’s first vibrant blooms, people tend to welcome small pops of color they previously overlooked in favor of a cozy neutral winter palette,” she stated. “The light, airy feel of soft colors seems to usher in warmer temperatures and sunny days, as if we can manifest the season’s change with our cheerful floral-inspired hues.”

This approach isn’t limited to color alone. Spring naturally invites more fun and activity, reflected in accents that feel nostalgic and playful. “Spring brings a bit of playful whimsy, so you’ll see more charming details like scalloped fabric edges and quaint bobbin legs on furniture,” Dale mentioned. Experimenting with these subtle accents — such as changing furniture legs, adding a scalloped tablecloth, or updating your throw pillows — offers a fantastic way to embrace these spring 2025 trends without overhauling your home’s entire aesthetic.
